A round of PictoRally consists of two phases:
Drawing: You are asked to draw one of three provided words. Unlike other drawing games, you are confined to a grid of 16x16, and 8 colors (of your own choosing).
Guessing: You are presented with someone else's drawing, and must guess what it is.
There are currently two ways to play PictoRally:
1-on-1 (2 players):
- You and someone else take turns drawing and guessing, through a "rally" of links sent over a messaging service (e.g. WhatsApp, Discord, or carrier pigeon).
- Spend as much time as you like between turns - minutes, hours, or days.
- Work together to create the longest streak (rally) of correct guesses possible!
Live (3+ players):
- All players work on their drawings at the same time, under a deadline of a few minutes.
- Afterwards, each player must try to guess what every other player drew, also under a deadline.
- You get one point for each correct guess you make, and one point for each player that correctly guesses what you drew.
- The player with the most points at the end wins.
Some additional rules:
- Don't reveal your prompts.
- Avoid text in your drawings. Don't write the prompt (even partially) into the canvas.
- Don't deliberately produce a drawing that is hard to identify, and don't deliberately make incorrect guesses.
- In online play against strangers, don't draw anything offensive or identifying.
